It started out as a challenge from a friend, and I take cake challenges. He found a recipe online of a cake made fully of hamburger meat and mashed potatoes. the recipe called for a solid block of hamburger for each of the tiers, covered with powdered mashed potatoes, and peas for garnish. I one-upped it hard.
The foundation of my cake was still hamburger, but I cut each tier into two layers, partially hollowed them out, and filled them with alternating layers of bacon, caramelized onions, and gravy. The layers were then covered in garlic mashed potatoes made from scratch. The bottom tier was decorated with green onions, the second layer was adorned with bacon roses and basil leaves, the top layer was embellished with brussels sprout medallions and chives, and the whole thing was topped off with a balsamic blooming onion crown. The whole thing was served on a platter covered in more roasted brussels sprouts and bacon.
I win.
